What is a Dealer Handling Fee?

A Dealer Handling Fee, also known as Delivery and Handling or D&H, is an overhead fee applied to all deals for the cost of processing the deal. Generally, this fee is optional and not required by any state or government agencies. Different states also have varying laws regarding when and how Dealer Handling Fees can be applied.

If you're not already using a Dealer Handing Fee, this is probably something you can skip entirely.

Add a Default Dealer Handling Fee
You can add a default D&H in your dealr.cloud system settings that will get applied ot every new deal going forward. Once the default is added into the settings, it will auto-populate into every deal. The D&H can be manually edited inside each individual deal if necessary. To add this default Dealer Handling Fee, follow the steps below.

Go to Manage > Settings > General > Deals
-----
Find the "Dealer Handling" field about midway down the page and edit
------

Change your Dealer Handling Settings

The Dealer Handling settings change how your Dealer Handing Fee will effect your Marketing and Deal Structures. You can change your default Dealer Handling setting by going to Manage > Settings > General > Deals.

Under the Dealer Handling Fee field there are two options. Leave both blank or check one (and only one) of the settings boxes to change the way the D&H effects your marketing and deals. See below for detailed explanation on each setting.

How Does D&H Affect My Deal?

There are multiple options for how your Dealer Handing Fee will effect both your Marketing and your deal structure.  See the examples and the chart below

Option 1: Default

>> Leave all boxes unchecked

Marketing: In this scenario, dealr.cloud simply sends out the exact amount your entered as your List Price to all your advertising sites.
Deal Structure:
Due to regulations in some states, the dealr.cloud default is to include the Dealer Handling Fee as part of the List Price of the vehicle. This means that if you have a $500.00 Dealer Handling Fee, and you enter the List Price on a vehicle (in the vehicle inventory page) as $15,000.00, then in your deal, you will see a breakdown that looks like this: List Price $15,000.00; Sales Price $14,500.00; Dealer Handling $500.

Option 2: Add Dealer Handling to Entered Vehicle Price

>> Check the box next to "Add Dealer Handling to Entered Vehicle Price"

Marketing: In this scenario, dealr.cloud will automatically add your D&H amount to the top of your List Price before sending to all your advertising sites. For example, if you enter $15,000 as your List Price on your vehicle page, but you have a $500 D&H, the vehicle price sent to all your advertising sites will be $15,500.
Deal Structure:
Using option number two will add the Dealer Handling Fee to the top of you List Price in the deal structure. This means that if you have a $500.00 Dealer Handling Fee, and you enter the List Price on a vehicle (in the vehicle inventory page) as $15,000.00, then in your deal, you will see a breakdown that looks like this: List Price $15,000.00; Sales Price $15,500.00; Dealer Handling $500.

Option 3: Prevent Auto Remove Dealer Handling From Sale Price

>> Check the box next to "Prevent Auto Remove Dealer Handling From Sale Price"

Marketing: In option 3, dealr.cloud will sends out the exact amount you entered as your List Price to all your advertising sites.
Deal Structure:
Like option number two, using option number three will add the Dealer Handling Fee to the top of you List Price in the deal structure. This means that if you have a $500.00 Dealer Handling Fee, and you enter the List Price on a vehicle as $15,000.00, then in your deal, you will see a breakdown that looks like this: List Price $15,000.00; Sales Price $15,500.00; Dealer Handling $500.
