Marketing

The marketing section allows you to manage advertising statuses and stocking details.

  • Sub Header - A field for you to highlight desirable features and make them more visible on your website.
  • Stock Number - This is where you can enter your stock number. The secret circle unlocks the field, or you can click the Generate Stock # link to generate the next stock number in sequence.
  • In Date - The stock in date for the vehicle. Oftentimes, this is the date the vehicle was added to inventory or the purchase date. It's used for age calculations.
  • Sale Price - The advertised price of the vehicle.
    • The secret circle allows you to see a price history of the vehicle by person and timestamp.
  • Status - The advertised status of the vehicle. Active will be included in feeds and on your website; Inactive will be excluded from feeds and hidden on your website. The secret circle also displays several other advertising options, seen below.
  • Condition - This allows you to assign a New or Used condition to the vehicle, which is used on any forms that require that information.
  • Dealership - If you have multiple lots at your dealership, this field can be used to transfer vehicles between lots. The secret circle unlocks the field.
  • Sold - This marks the vehicle as sold, which will remove it from your advertising.
    • Sale Date - This field is automatically shown when the vehicle is marked as sold.
    • The sold checkbox and the sale date are automatically set when the vehicle is Processed as Sold.
  • Disabled - This removes the vehicle from current inventory and removes it from advertising.
    • This checkbox is automatically checked after the vehicle has been sold. It may remain unchecked for recently sold vehicles, depending on the Days to Keep Sold Inventory Active setting.

Advanced Advertising Status

If you click the secret circle next to the Status field, you'll be presented with additional advertising options.

  • Wholesale Price - Used in certain inventory feeds to wholesale providers. It will use the sale price as a default if this field is blank.
  • Featured - Allows you to feature vehicles to display on your website. This requires a slider that's assigned to show Featured vehicles.
  • Don't Import - If an import feed is set up, this vehicle will be ignored. It will not be updated by the feed, nor will it be removed if the vehicle is not in the feed.
  • Don't Export - Prevents this vehicle from being included in any export feeds.
  • Special 1/2/3 - Operates similarly to Featured, but also allows you to enter some text to display in your inventory list. These fields can be used to segment out your inventory in separate SRP pages.

Keywords

The keywords field is used strictly on your website in the keywords meta header. It's not an essential field and if you leave it blank it won't hurt you. You can find it beneath the Description field, and the keywords field is only visible when you have the secret circle next to the Status field enabled.

Description

The description field is displayed on your website and is also sent in inventory feeds. It's a rich text editor, which means you can put bolded and italicized text, bullet points, and more.

Default Description

The Default Description is a body of text that will automatically load into your inventory when you create your vehicle. You can set up a default description in your General Settings. Some dealerships use this function to set up an advanced description that they can just modify some parts of for the specific vehicle.

Exporting

When the description gets exported, we have to convert your rich text description to a plain text format because no advertising sites accept the HTML from the description. When this happens, some of your elements may change appearance. For example, a description that looks like this in your editor:

This is a sample description

  • Feature 1
  • Feature 2
  • Feature 3

A sample link

Will look like this when it's exported:

This is a sample description

- Feature 1
- Feature 2
- Feature 3

[A sample link](https://knight.dealr.website)

We use an HTML to Markdown converter to make this work.

Disclosures

The disclosures field is used to document damage or other disclosures applicable to your state. The information will automatically print on any disclosures forms programmed in the system.

Title Information

The Title Information section allows you to store details about the title so that you can have reference in the vehicle as well as run reports by titles later on.

Forms

The Forms section allows you to print off forms specific to this vehicle with your dealership's information on them. This can be useful for a variety of forms:

  • Buyer's Guide
  • Title Applications
  • VIN Verifications
  • Window Stickers

Window Sticker

The Window Sticker allows you to print out a detailed label to insert inside the vehicle.

Window Sticker Print Settings

For the best possible quality, we recommend adjusting the print settings for the window sticker to allow for a gradient fade-out of the itemized equipment and to prevent the page URL from appearing on the label.

You can adjust these settings inside the Google Chrome Print Dialog box when you're trying to print out the window sticker. These settings can be adjusting by

  1. Unchecking the "Header and Footer" box
  2. Checking the "Background Graphics" box

Here's an example of how the Window Sticker should look with these settings selected:

If you'd like to have these settings applied to your Window Sticker and are unable to set them up, please contact Support.

Hard Delete

Hard deleting a vehicle allows you to completely remove it from the system. We recommend that you Disable a vehicle rather than hard deleting it, but if you want to completely remove the vehicle from the system with all records, you can hard delete it.
