Bank Feed Setup

Bank Feeds allow you to import transactions directly from your bank to match them with entries in your accounting system. We support this through OFX file uploads.

Using Bank Feeds

OFX/OFC Uploads

This bank transaction upload tool allows you to download and import files from your bank in the following formats:

  • .QFX files
  • .OFX files
  • .OFC files

This is an entirely self-dependent solution that gives you full control over your bank data imports.

Activating

If you want to activate this on one of your accounting accounts, Contact Support.

Finding the File

Generally these can be found in a downloads section on your bank's website, like the screenshots below. You're looking for a .QFX, .OFX, or .OFC file. Sometimes they're referred to as "Open Financial Exchange", "Quicken", or "Open Financial Connectivty" file types. The OFX (Open Financial Exchange) format is pretty universal, so most banks should be able to provide your data in that format.

Uploading the File

Once you've gotten your file, you can upload it into the bank feed. First, navigate to the Banking page and click into the account.

From here, select your file to upload, and your transactions will show up in the list below!

Things to know:

  • Duplicates are detected by a unique identifier provided by your bank.
  • You can undo the last upload if you accidentally upload the wrong file.
  • If a transaction is no longer in the uploaded file it doesn't get deleted. You'll just have to "ignore" any of these transactions to hide them.
Manually Creating OFX File

While we can't stop you from doing this, we also can't support you if you try it. OFX is a very strict format, and you have to have fields formatted very specifically in order for it to be processed correctly. The specification PDF can be downloaded below, but it's over 700 pages long; it's not even worth attempting this, but the file is here for reference.
